There is no reason for marijuana to be illegal. Cigarettes and alcohol are legal and claim far more lives every year. Some people who drink and or smoke might say that smoking marijuana is wrong and bad for you but when in reality what they are doing is far worse. Marijuana is known as an addicting and harmful drug, but this is simply not the case. “The human body can get addicted to anything” says MacLean author of the article “Just Say Yes”. Marijuana can help conditions like epilepsy. Cannabis should be legalized for the reasons of helping these disabled people, there are always people that are going to abuse things. Also it would help police by having them just trying to stop harder and far more dangerous drugs. But let’s be smart about it and legalize it similarly to alcohol so you have to be a certain age to purchase it.
Legalizing marijuana could help the disabled population immensely. Studies have shown that marijuana can help people with debilitating conditions such as epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, and many more. Wouldn’t it be nice if these people could do things like drive, go to amusement parks, or even just play video games? These people are not allowed to do the simplest of tasks but if marijuana was legalized people with such conditions might be able to do daily tasks again. Also if cancer is an issue then doctors could provide patients with THC inhalers that are virtually cancer free. If you think about it’s just not right that the federal government gives methadone, a synthetic form of heroin, to former heroin addicts, valium to recovering alcoholics, but can’t give a patient ravaged by cancer, who has no appetite, permission to consume marijuana.
