OPPapers.com was originally started in 1997 by a student from New York. The site grew quickly, but the administrator's at the student's university did not approve of the site. The student was asked to take down or change the site, so he changed the name to "Official Provisions for Papers". Official Provisions for Papers was basically a search engine that searched outside resources to help students with their term papers. It was not as popular as the original site and the student eventually let the domain (OPPapers.com) expire and it was released to the public.
OPPapers.com was re-registered and re-launched by its current owner in 1999. Initially, the site was operated manually; users submitted papers and desired account information via email and the papers and accounts were manually added to the site. Eventually, this became very time-consuming for the owner of the site and he decided to really learn how to develop websites.
Today, OPPapers.com gets thousands of unique visitors per day and often receives hundreds of paper submissions per day. The site is fully automated, but it is actively managed and developed by its owner.
